Why do we lovingly brew GG?

The reasons grow everyday just like our favorite fleshy pellicle Geoff! Here’s a few:

  • COST: Store-bought kombucha pushes the $3-6 range per 12/16 oz bottle…we were drinking around 4-5 bottles a day…and our healthy habit significantly impacted budget!

  • QUALITY: We tried so many kinds of buch on the market, but the flavor and fizz just wasn’t the same as the home brew we had experienced from friends.

  • CONSCIENCE: Where we spend our money is a concern: do we choose the convenience and lower prices of supermarkets or support the local community small businesses? where do the profits go? how do we do better at consciously spending our dollars to support the greater global good?

  • CRAFT BEER REPLACEMENT: This is a touchy one living in the Nation’s #3 Craft Brewery state (CA 1st, WA 2nd), but we wanted to pull back a bit from our love of craft beer (especially the empty but oh-so-delicious calories in our favorite hazy IPAs, Browns, ESBs, Porters, APAs, Stouts, Belgians, Tripels, Hefs, Saisons, and whatever else falls off and on the spectrum, with a special shout out to our fav Zombie Dust from 3Fs that we carry to the top of every 14er we hike). We don’t discriminate and we don’t drain pour, but we will pack on the pounds from overconsumption just like anyone else!

  • EDUCATION: There’s so much information “out there” today and much of it is true and, arguably, much is not true. So we educated ourselves about the history, research, impacts, the Enteric Nervous System aka our “Other Brain,” and lessons learned to better serve the art and science of educating the buch community.

  • SHARING: As believers in the open source movement, there’s truly something magical about giving a piece of our passion to people, especially when it’s tangible and tastes like unicorn energy in liquid form! We really do want to meet everyone in the world and share a glass of Gracious Gut one day and say cheers to your gut health!

  • SUPPORTING DEMENTIA RESEARCH: Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s run in our family and the stats don’t lie. According to the World Health Organization (2017):

The number of people living with dementia worldwide is currently estimated at 47 million and is projected to increase to 75 million by 2030. The number of cases of dementia are estimated to almost triple by 2050.

Dementia is overwhelming not only for the people who have it, but also for their caregivers and families. There is a lack of awareness and understanding of dementia in most countries, resulting in stigmatization, barriers to diagnosis and care, and impacting carers, families and societies physically, psychologically and economically.

We know first-hand the impacts of this horrid disease, and we felt helpless when our parents were diagnosed. So giving back 20% of GG to support dementia research is important to us, and we hope it’s one of your reasons for choosing GG.

  • COMMUNITY: As our passion projects evolve overtime, we realize this brew journey has just begun. We LOVE kombucha and talk A LOT about it to others, family, friends, and any stranger who’ll listen. GG has changed our lives and the best part has been cultivating great relationships along the way.
